The best of times..

These were the best of times.

I miss everyone who was involved with this. It's been almost nine years and I've never been able to recapture the awesome, the feels or the stories I had going here.

Raising a glass to the folks from the past, and wondering if anyone will ever see this.

I wonder if anyone will even see this. XD

Would anyone be interested in keeping LE on as a livejournal roleplaying community? I figured it might be fun for anyone... but I'm not sure. XD Sorry to be bothersome, then, but I figured I'd throw it out there, since I know a lot of people get along well together.

I know there are lots of RP communities... but, anyway, if interested, comment me, prz! :3 If not, comment and yell and say mean things. e-e

Leading Edge MUSH had an excellent run of almost two years. We wish to sincerely thank all of the players who made this possible.

Anyone who didn't get a chance to @decompile a character or object can contact me, Benden, at coderedge at gmail dot com, and I'll get you a copy when I have a chance (it may be a few days). I also welcome email for more social purposes!

The log journal will remain available for the foreseeable future.

Thank you all again, so very much.

on behalf of Leading Edge MUSH staff past and present

So you wanna be notorious? Read under the cut for ways in which you might personally be responsible for helping break the Five Mines siege. You, too, can cause death and destruction!

The end of Five Mines Hold will be run as a long event. At the end of this event, players may elect for their characters to have:

a) Fled off-camera without being caught; or
b) Fled to High Reaches Weyr with J'lor and his cronies; or
c) Died; or
d) Been captured.

The choice of options (a) or (c) will obviously result in characters taking no further part on onscreen action. Barring any really amusing suggestions for poltergeisting. Those choosing options (b) or (d) should be aware that there may be IC consequences, including trial, exile, punishment or execution. If you wish to avoid any of these, (b) is your best bet.

Blood and guts hereunder. And also spoilers.Collapse )

Game Announcement

Jul. 15th, 2007 | 08:23 pm

On September 15, 2007, Leading Edge MUSH will close.

We are incredibly grateful to the many players, past and present, who have dedicated time and effort to telling stories in this setting, and we especially appreciate those of you who still wish to do so. However, at this time staff has concluded that it is no longer possible to continue Leading Edge in the manner it was intended.

Between now and closing, staff will invest every effort possible in creating a sense of 'closure' for the game's story arcs and in helping players to tie up loose ends in their own characters' stories.

As you probably know already, Leading Edge MUSH was designed to provide a conflict-rich setting for the development of PC-based plots. As has been pointed out, Caucus itself exists - from an OOC perspective - to provide a chance for everyone to play 'someone important,' drawing together all of the 'shiny' folk of Pern into one politically-charged setting.

We would like to invite the players of Leading Edge to contribute ideas and opinions about the events that will lead to closure of the game's major persisting story arcs. Staff has developed a few ideas to get you started, and we welcome you to remark upon and discuss them as well as offer your own in comments on this post.

Opening for Plot Workshop Volunteers

Jul. 7th, 2007 | 04:21 pm

A number of players have expressed interest in becoming involved in driving or planning plots on LE, from the every-day to the world-altering. In response to this, staff would like to open up a list of plots and subplots and invite you all to take a look, and let us know if there's somewhere you'd like to be involved. This is an opportunity to help pick the direction the game might go, or just to help pick out what might happen next week. We know that on reading something like this, it's common to feel that such an offer is directed at particular players, or at people other than you. Not so! If you're reading this, we mean you, and this is a great chance to get involved.

If you would like to take on a leadership role in progressing plots on Leading Edge, please review the plot list below and @mail *staff to volunteer. Staff and interested players will meet to 'workshop' the plots later this month or in early August. More information about ongoing plot threads will be available after the workshops.

Spoilers ahoy...Collapse )

Day 2 Dignitaries arrive for the sevens-long Caucus celebration.
Day 12 The Caucus Ball is held at High Reaches, and among the guests are Igen's Weyrleader G'mal and Telgar's new Weyrleader V'sen. During the festivities, a group of Igen chromatic riders defect to Five Mines.
Day 13 Lexine and Vasyath depart for Telgar Weyr (again).
Day 21 An older bronzerider, I'valo, is appointed Wingleader of 3C.
Day 25 A Grand Conclave is held. It is decided that, as Five Mines is charterless and has no Blood, it may not secede from Nabol. Further, no crafters will be posted there until the matter is resolved. High Reaches Weyr is official expected to 'mediate', though what that means is anybody's guess.
